Tips for staying Fit in the school holidays!
I hope you are all surviving the first few days of the mid year break!
It can be challenging to stick to your exercise routine during the school holidays. My children are now 8 and 11. Below are some tips on how I have managed to keep up my fitness regime through their different ages and stages:
- Try a bodyweight HIIT workout at home while your toddler is asleep. There are 10 workouts provided as part of a membership at www.projectfit.co.nz
- Take your older children to the local track with you. They can scooter or bike while you run/walk. Try some sprints and get them to join in too!
- Have a some equipment at home. This doesn’t have to be a lot and can be built on slowly to vary your workouts. Trademe is a great place to find unwanted used equipment. A good start is a piece of cardio equipment ie. a spin bike or crosstrainer and a few dumbells or a kettlebell. This will also eliminate the weather excuse at any time!
- Vary your own routine by doing something the kids will enjoy. Swimming or bike rides are great! Pack a picnic and make a day trip out of it.
- See if a friend would like to take turns looking after the kids so you can workout independently.
- Workout when your partner is home from work. Early in the morning, in the evening or on the weekends.
Ultimately try to focus on what you can do not what you cant do. Think positive and make a plan! If you would like more information and tools to lose weight and feel great click on Join now!!
